Visit of Vice-Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic Of China Xie Zhenhua, 30 June - 1 July 2013
Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of the People’s Republic of China Xie Zhenhua, visited Singapore from 30 June - 1 July 2013 at the invitation of Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. Mr Xie is concurrently the head of China’s Climate Change and Coordinating Committee and represents China at the international negotiations on climate change.
During his visit, Mr Xie called on Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Teo Chee Hean, who chairs Singapore’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change. DPM Teo and Mr Xie exchanged views on climate change issues and priorities for both countries.
Mr Xie was also hosted to lunch by Dr Balakrishan, where they discussed issues related to the international climate change negotiations. Dr Balakrishnan and Mr Xie reaffirmed the close ties between Singapore and China, and renewed their commitment to continue working together on the issue of climate change.
