Ministers Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Masagos Zulkifli to Attend the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris, France
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli will both be in Paris, France on 7-10 December 2015 to attend the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP-21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)*.
The conference is expected to conclude negotiations on a new global climate change agreement which will succeed the Kyoto Protocol under the UNFCCC after 2020.
Minister Balakrishnan will lead the Singapore delegation, and Minister Masagos will deliver Singapore’s National Statement at the High-Level Segment of the conference. The ministers will be accompanied by officials from agencies represented in the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change.
*The Conference is a joint session of the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-21), the 11th Session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP-11) and relevant subsidiary bodies.
